This stoneware vessel consists of a bowl and lid. The curved hemispheric lid has a ring-shaped knob in the center and is decorated a lot of dot line design. The hemispheric bowl stands on the low foot with a flat base. This part is also decorated with stamped design.<br /> <br /> This is a dark gray, high-fired stoneware lidded bowl decorated with a stamped design. A ring-shaped knob at the top of the lid is surrounded by vertically aligned dotted designs radiating outwards. The bowl rim is rounded, while two narrowly incised lines surround its widest part, located just below the lip of the rim where the lid rests. Below these lines, the body is stamped with a continuous, vertically aligned, horseshoe pattern. It is a black silk damask haori (short jacket for kimono) with wax-resist patterns, hand-painted design and metallic threads embroidery. The haori is in medium length, covering just underneath hip. It has elongated sleeves. The silk fabric is woven in a twill pattern of palace carts and flower baskets. Then the fabric is dyed with black. The white family crest under the collar and the diagonal part where chrysanthemum design would appear are left out from dying. The pinkish orange scale pattern is added using wax-resist technique. Chrysanthemum design is hand-painted with white, red, yellow, and blue colors. Finally embroidery is added in various metallic threads around the contours of the chrysanthemum petals and leaves.<br />Orange satin damask lining with woven wave design, with stenciled (?) designs of white flying cranes. Silver cord on one side, gold on the other, both with tassels.

A bearded man with a halo and wearing ecclesiastical vestments appears rapt in ecstasy in the upper third of this painting. He stands on a cloud beneath an elaborate baldachin with his eyes turned upward. A stag with a cross between its antlers lies at his feet on the figure&#39;s right while a putto sits at his left. Two more putti hover to the left and right of the man, holding a red curtain behind him. This scene is surrounded on three sides by dense painted decoration composed primarily of vegetal motifs, which is complemented by the exuberant scrolling foliage and fish scale patterns of the gilded frame. A cartouche bearing a Latin inscription identifying the standing figure is located near the bottom of the painted surface.
